Terrible, terrible customer service. Do yourself a favour and choose an alternative Volvo Dealer.
My experience started late last year when I was looking to purchase an XC90 T8 R Design Pro with quite a few extras (not exactly the cheapest model so you’d think they’d be keen to get the sale!). Originally did an online enquiry, got zero response. Decided to give them another chance so visited in person. Spoke to a salesman, said I would be in a position to place the order but would like a test drive first. He promised me he would call within 2 days to confirm a date and time - no call!! Wow, they must be doing well to be able to essentially refuse a sale. I took my almost £80,000 elsewhere.
Then....it gets better.
After a couple of months of acquiring my new car it developed a fault. Since Volvo Guildford is my closest dealer I decided to take it there. Surely their after care service cannot be as terrible as their sales service. Oh how I was wrong.
I made the call and explained the fault to be told - “we can’t help you, you will have to take it back to where you bought it” now I know that’s rubbish, the car had a fault and I should be able to get it repaired at any main dealer, so.....
I called Volvo UK and made a complaint, they confirmed that I could of course get the car repaired by any dealer and assured me they would call Volvo Guildford and get this sorted for me. They assured me I’d get a call from the dealer - did I get that call??? Nope! So.....
I wrote a letter of complaint to Volvo guildford ......did I ever get a response?? Nope zero, nada, nothing! So.....
I called Volvo Reading, got my car booked in later that week. Got the issues solved quickly and efficiently thank you Volvo Reading.
I’m in a lucky position in that I’ve owned various cars from Mercedes, Audi, BMW in the past and had excellent service. This is my first car from Volvo and whilst I love the car the service I've received so far (from Volvo Guildford at least) has been very second rate. If you want to compete with the Germans, I’m afraid you need to up your customer service significantly!j
